November 17, 2008, 12:59 pm
From series and track reports

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (Nov. 15) — Polesitter Darrell Padgett of Clay Hill, Fla., started on the pole and led all 40 laps at Golden Isles Speedway for his first-ever victory on the National Late Model Series. Padgett became the 87th winner in series history by finishing six lengths ahead of Terry Lumley of Twin City, Ga., in a race that ran caution-free the first 20 laps.

Seventh-starting Tyler Ivey of Tallahassee, Fla., finished third while Brandon Cameron of Jacksonville, Fla., who started alongside Padgett on the front row was fourth and a cool, windy night. Jeremy Faircloth of Swainsboro, Ga., was fifth while Cale Simons of Albany, Ga., was sixth despite a late-race incident. NLMS points leader Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., lost positions when he got too high one lap, but he recovered to finish seventh.

Notes: Padgett drives a Billy Wells-owned MasterSbilt Race Car with a Koury engine and sponsorship from Well Brothers Farms and M&M Motorsports. ... Padgett was the only car below the 17-second mark in time trials. ... Former NASCAR driver Sam Sommers was on hand in the track's VIP booth. ... The NLMS tour wraps up its season with the $10,000-to-win Allen Sparks Memorial on Nov. 28-29 at Cochran (Ga.) Motor Speedway. Practice is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day.
