Big E double-dipping Dreams, World 100s

Zach Yost

Dirt Late Model fans will be seeing double at Eldora Speedway in 2021 with the Tony Stewart-owned track making up for last year's pandemic-hampered season with two versions of both the Dream and World 100, two of the sport's biggest events.

Fans — likely at reduced capacity until state health restrictions ease — will be welcomed back to the track's grandstands for the first time in nearly two years at the Earl Baltes-founded oval in Rossburg, Ohio, with the announcement of a 24-night schedule, 10 of them including Dirt Late Models.

The 27th and 26th Dreams, held in reverse order, are scheduled for late spring with the 27th running June 9-10 paying $127,000-to-win and the 26th running June 11-12 paying $126,000-to-win. Each event will be preceded by twin $10,000-to-win features on preliminary nights in Rossburg, Ohio.

Likewise the 51st and 50th World 100s take center stage in late summer with the 51st running paying $54,000-to-win Sept. 8-9 and the golden anniversary 50th running paying $53,000-to-win Sept. 10-11. Twin $10,000-to-win features are set for both preliminary nights.

With Covid-19 preventing Eldora from allowing spectators last season, the track ran invitation-only placeholder events — June's Stream Invitational (pictured) won by Tim McCreadie and September's Intercontinental Classic won by Jonathan Davenport — paying $50,000-to-win.

Eldora's 2021 slate includes additional Dirt Late Model events scheduled for May 30's Johnny Appleseed Classic, a tuneup for the Dreams, and Sept. 5's Baltes Classic, preceding the World 100s.

Following state health guidelines, Eldora expects to have a spectator capacity of about 30 percent for May events with hopes of increasing capacity as Covid-19 cases decrease. Eldora will follow state guidelines for large outdoor gatherings with social distancing, mask-wearing when not at your seat and inside as well as limited interaction among people you don't know.

Ticket sales information will be announced soon. Eldora's Dirt Late Model events will stream live at FloRacing.com. Visit eldoraspeedway.com the complete schedule and details.
