Tad Pospisil celebrates at Central Missouri Speedway.
What won the race: Fourth-starting Tad Pospisil of Norfolk, Neb., sneaked past race-long leader J.C. Wyman with four laps remaining to pick up a $3,000 victory in the Cliff Harris Memorial for the Malvern Bank West Series at Central Missouri Speedway. The pole-starting Wyman got into infield tire barriers twice in the same lap while battling lapped traffic and and limped home in third behind runner-up Chad Holladay.
Quotable: "You know, I don't think I had anything for (J.C. Wyman), but he KO'd that entry tire and messed up his left front, got a flat," Pospisil said. "But I guess that's his error. He bobbled because of it down here and it let me get underneath him and got the lead there at the (flagstand) before the caution came out. But we had a really good car. Man, we busted our ass all week. We were so bad last Saturday (in) Independence, Iowa. I bet I got 80 hours in this car at night after working a full-time job. I guess I busted my butt. My 81-year-old grandpa over here, he was out there working with me until midnight every night."
Key notes: Winning the tour's opener, Pospisil notched his 34th career Malvern West tour victory (he's second on the all-time list behind Kyle Berck's 98). ... Pospisil took the checkers 1.289 seconds ahead of Chad Holladay, the event's fast qualifier. ... Eighteen of 23 starters completed 25 laps. ... Berck scratched from the feature lineup. ... Central Missouri has added a semi-regular POWRi-sanctioned Limited Late Model division for the 2024 season after going many years with only a few Late Model specials.
On the move: Andrew Kosiski of La Vista, Neb., started 11th and finished fifth.
Winner's sponsors: Pospisil's Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Scott Bailey Racing Engine and sponsored by Signor Trucking, Window World, Iron Horse CPAs & Advisors, Dietz Well & Pumps, 97.5 WEXL/WJAG, Island Supply, Bad Chad Motorsports and Malvern Bank.
Points chase: After Central Missouri: 1. Tad Pospisil (200); 2. Chad Holladay (196); 3. J.C. Wyman (194); 4. Andrew Kosiski (192); 5. Jesse Sobbing (190).
