From contributor, track and team reports

RINGGOLD, Ga. (March 8) — Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga., stole the point from pole-starting Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., at the halfway mark of Friday's March Madness main event at Boyd’s Speedway for his first victory of 2013.

Driving for Team Dillon Racing, McDowell earned $4,000 for the 40-lap victory in the unsanctioned event for Super Late Models at the third-mile oval. | Video

“It took us a while to get going,” said McDowell, who rode behind the high-running Davenport early in the race before taking the lead with a low-side pass on lap 20. "Jonathan was awful good around the top side there, so I kinda found a groove in the bottom and got by him.”

Davenport, who topped 36 drivers in qualifying, settled for second with Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., in third. Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., was fourth while Steve Casebolt of Richmond, In., rallied from his 13th starting spot to round out the top five.

The event was slowed by six cautions, all for minor incidents.
