HESSTON, Pa. (May 26) — Mark Pettyjohn of Milton, Del., stayed hot with his third Three State Flyers victory of the season, while Jeremy Miller of Gettysburg, Pa., notched his first Sunday at Hesston Speedway. The winners earned $4,044 apiece in the double features. | Slideshow

In the opening feature, the pole-sitting Pettyjohn swapped the lead four times with fellow front-row starter Derek Byler of Alexandria, Pa., over the first nine laps, then led the rest of the way for the victory. Devin Friese of Chambersburg, Pa., came from the 13th starting spot to finish second while the 16th-starting Miller was third. Father-and-son drivers Jim and Dylan Yoder of Selinsgrove, Pa., rounded out the top five. Byler was 10th.

In the nightcap starting with a nine-car inversion of the first feature, Mark’s brother Kenny Pettyjohn of Millsboro, Del., led 23 of the first 26 laps before the seventh-starting Miller took command, leading the remainder of the 40-lap event. Kenny Pettyjohn was second followed by Friese, Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, Md., and 15th-starting Jason Covert of York Haven, Pa. Jeff Rine of Danville, Pa., who led laps 13-15, was sixth.

Mark Pettyjohn was 12th in the second race. His car's timing chain broke leaving victory lane after the first race, and he was forced to start the second event on the tail of the 27-car field in Wayne Johnson's car.
