Blair captures Fastrak tour's debut in Canada

From series reports

PORT COLBORNE, Ontario (May 22) — Sixth-starting Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., took the lead from Josh Double on the fifth lap Sunday at Humberstone Speedway to capture the first-ever Fastrak Northeast event outside the United States.

Blair earned $2,000 for the 30-lapper, riding a consistent line around the bottom of the speedway to become the Northeast tour's all-time feature winner while competitors swapped positions at a torrid pace on the third-mile oval.

"I'm ready to come back here again," said the 21-year-old Blair, who received a custom, cherry-framed Canadian flag trophy. "I'd love to see another touring race here. There aren't this many tracks that are this racy. You could race all over."

Steve Dixon rallied to finish second followed Wayne Robertson, Double and 11th-starting Darren Peters. Polesitter Jorden Peters, just 14 years old, slipped back to fourth early after brushing an infield barrier and ended up 13th.

Blair went to work quickly, running side-by-side with Robertson in a battle for second on the fourth lap, then going to work on Double, who was running the high side. Blair found bite on the bottom to take command and never looked back.
