LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. (July 12) — Ron Davies of Warren, Pa., and Bump Hedman of Sugar Grove, Pa., were $3,000 winners at Little Valley Speedway in United Late Model Series-sanctioned double features. | Slideshow

In the first feature, the polesitting Davies outran Todd Andrews of Eldred, Pa., and his brother Dutch in a makeup of an event rained out July 3. Jason Dupont was fourth and 18th-starting Brent Rhebergen was fifth in the 30-lapper. The winner's only tense moment came when he brushed the wall on a lap-20 restart. “I just drove it in way too hard," Ron Davies said. "I just stood on it, and hit the wall a little bit. Didn’t hurt it too much, I guess."

In the second feature, Dutch Davies was in control through the first half of a race plagued by rain, but the 12th-starting Hedman charged up to second by the 16th lap and was hounding the leader a few laps later. He swept into the lead on the 24th lap and when rain finally forced the race's conclusion two laps later, Hedman had his biggest career victory. Dutch Davies finished second followed by Andrews, David Scott and Ed Carley, who won the night's modified feature. “After the rain delay we hit the right tire and it was working really good," Hedman said. "I had to be patient when I was chasing Dutch because it’s hard to slow down when you’re trying to beat somebody."

Notes: Ron Davies lost his chance for a sweep in the second race when he blew a tire entering turn two after starting outside the front row. ... The first feature ran 18 caution-free laps before Doug Ricotta was charged with spinning Scott on the 19th lap. Four laps later, a red flag appeared when Dick Barton clipped the outside wall, collecting Scott, and then both were hit by George Lee, doing significant damage to all three cars. No one was injured. ... The next ULMS event is scheduled for July 31 at McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, Pa., a $3,000-to-win event.
