Knight wins Lundgren Memorial at McKean
EAST SMETHPORT, Pa. (May 24) — Reigning series champion Mike Knight of Ripley, W.Va., notched his first victory as a married man on Thursday, winning the Kennedy Motorsports United Late Model Series-sanctioned Dave Lundgren Memorial at McKean County Raceway. Knight came from the fourth starting spot for his fifth career ULMS victory. | Slideshow
Chad Valone of Warren, Pa., was the runner-up while Robbie Blair of Titusville, Pa., finished third. Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, Pa., and Matt Lux of Franklin, Pa., rounded out the top five.
Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., entered the race tied for the ULMS points lead but retired with an 18th-place finish. Jared Miley of South Park, Pa., was also tied for the points lead after two series events but didn’t come to McKean after the team found radiator problems earlier in the afternoon.

Knight married his wife Katie just six days earlier at a friend’s resident overlooking Lake Erie and vineyards. The reception was Saturday in Westfield, N.Y., and Knight was back at the track Sunday in action at Eriez Speedway in Hammett, Pa., where he’s a two-time track champion. ... Knight’s previous ULMS victory came in the 2011 season opener at Tri-City Speedway in Franklin, Pa. ... His first career series victory came at McKean County in 2009. ... ULMS competitors return to action June 8-9 at Little Valley (N.Y.) Speedway and Stateline Speedway in Busti, N.Y.
