Boom Briggs (99B) outran Chub Frank (1*) at Eriez Speedway.
What won the race: Winning a family affair at Eriez Speedway, Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pa., outran his cousin Chub Frank and son-in-law Mike Knight for an Ultimate Northeast Series triumph. Briggs passed Frank just before the halfway mark of Sunday’s 30-lapper and drove to a $3,000 payday, his first on the series.
Key notes: Knight, who rallied from 26th, dogged the second-running Frank in the waning laps, but he was unable to get by and settled for third. … Briggs is the seventh winner in nine series races. … Eriez hosted the Ultimate Northeast series for the first time. … Rick Eckert of York, Pa., and Jared Miley of Pittsburgh, Pa., have two wins apiece. … The tour’s season finale is Oct. 13 at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway.
On the move: Mike Knight of Ripley, N.Y., rallied from his 26th starting spot to finish third.
Winner's sponsors: Briggs drives a Club 29 Race Car with a Clements Racing Engine and sponsorship from Briggs Transport, Corry Rubber Corporation, Asel Enterprises, Buccola's, Meridien Hardwoods of PA, C.J.'s Auto Transport, Tony Stec Lumber, Chub Frank Racing, Allstar Performance and Slavic Shirt and Decals.
Points chase: Before Eriez, Jared Miley (204) of Pittsburgh, Pa., led Ross Robinson (199), Matt Cosner (198), Kyle Lee (177) and Ryan Montgomery (157).
