Michael Page had a broom and checkered flag in Rome's victory lane.
What won the race: Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga., won Sunday’s Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series main event at Rome to complete a sweep of the tour’s three-race weekend in Georgia. Page pulled away following a caution with three laps remaining and finished 0.961 seconds ahead of runner-up Jake Knowles for a $3,000 payday.
Quotable: “I had an awesome race car all three nights, and I don’t know how anything could be any better to run that hard for that long, and for everything to stay together,” winner Michael Page said. “This Stinger Race Car is really good, and anyone that knows anything about these race cars can see that the corner speed is as fast as the straightaway speed.”
Key notes: Cruz Skinner retired running fourth on lap 41. ... Jody Knowles and Landon Bagby tangled for a lap-35 yellow. ... Ten of the 18 starters completed 50 laps. … Rome wrapped up the Chevy tour’s three-day weekend, that also included Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga., on Friday and Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Ga., on Saturday, where Page won both nights. … Tyler Millwood won the companion Rome Boss, a $3,000 Super Late Model triumph. … Rome hosts the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Sept. 30.
Winner's sponsors: Page’s Stinger Race Car is sponsored by Baird Transport, Elite Concrete, Baird Towing and T&T Trucking.
Points chase: After the weekend, Ronnie Johnson (672) of Chattanooga, Tenn., led Jake Knowles (656) and Chase King (606) in the Chevy Series standings.
