What won the race: Winning his fifth special event at the track this season, polesitter Randy Weaver of Crossville, Tenn., dominated Friday's action at Smoky Mountain Speedway, leading all 53 laps for a $5,300 Schaeffer Oil Southern Nationals Series victory. Points contenders Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., and Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Ga., followed Weaver across the finish line.
Key notes: Weaver turned in a perfect night, setting fast time, winning the dash, earning the pole and leading every circuit of the feature. ... He has seven career Southern Nationals victories. ... Eight drivers completed all 53 laps and 11 were running at the finish. ...
