Kent Robinson gets rolling before his 25-lap Baltes Classic victory.
What won the race: Kent Robinson of Bloomington, Ind., overtook polesitter and fellow front-row starter Jon Henry of Ada, Ohio, just before a mid-race caution, then held off eighth-starting Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., for a 25-lap Sunoco American Late Model Series victory at Eldora Speedway. Robinson earned $3,000 in the ninth annual Baltes Classic. Moyer and Chamberlain pressured Robinson in the closing laps.
Quotable: "Yeah, I knew Billy would be tough. Jon got the jump on me and was good early. I just tried to bide my time there, and with this tire rule, we we were all on super-soft tires," Robinson said. "I tried to keep mine underneath me."
Key notes: Robinson struggled with brake problems in the main event. ... His only other ALMS victory also came at Eldora in 2014's Baltes Classic. ... Eldora debuted a no-grooving tire rule that will be used at the upcoming World 100. ... Tim Lance won a consolation race in a car carrying the Jason Feger No. 25 graphics scheme. ... Billy Moyer was docked two spots for jumping the start to the fourth heat, helping Duane Chamberlain grab a victory. ... Hudson O'Neal slowed leading the final heat and fell shy of transferring through a consy. ... ALMS points leader Rusty Schlenk flipped wildly in turn two while leading a consolation race; he reported that he thought the car's right-rear hub snapped when he bounced on the fast track, which caused the wheel to fly off and send him over. He wasn't injured, but his Lawrence Motorsports team said on Facebook the damage will sideline them for the World 100.
Winner's sponsors: Robinson's Jay Dickens-powered Billy Moyer Victory Race Car is sponsored by JB's Disposal, Keyser Mfg., Jones Oil Company, Action Suspension, JB's Salvage and Midwest Sheet Metal.
Points chase: Rusty Schlenk of McClure, Ohio, entered the weekend atop the ALMS standings. After flipping in the B-Main, he used a points provisional to start the feature in Liz Patterson's car and took the green flag for a 22nd-place finish.
