John Mollick races to victory in the Bill Hendren Memorial at PPMS.
What won the race: Fourth-starting John Mollick of Toronto Ohio, topped second-starting Ryan Montgomery of Fairmont, W.Va., picking up a RUSH Dirt Late Model Series in the Bill Hendren Memorial at Pittsburgh Motor Speedway. Mollick earned $2,500 for the victory.
Quotable: "That Montgomery car was really good tonight and if it wasn't for that last caution we wouldn't have got him," Mollick said. "I thought he might have bobbled a bit. I tried to just go like hell and make it work, and we got lucky. We missed the setup a little in the dash, but got it good for the feature."
Key notes: Fast qualifier Mike Ref suffered a broken right wrist in a first-lap crash; he plans to see an orthopedic physician for surgery this week. ... The race honored the memory the founder of Hendren Racing Engines. ... Scott Schempp won the non-qualifiers' race. ... The event included $100 bonuses or product bonuses for each lap.
On the move: Jared Miley of Pittsburgh, Pa., started 22nd and finished fourth.
Winner's sponsors: Mollick's Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Stan's Transmission, Rambo and Autozone.
