Justin Kay won his fourth race in his last five series starts at West Liberty.
What won the race: Reigning tour champ Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, roared into the lead on a lap-15 restart and cruised at West Liberty Raceway to his first Deery Brothers Summer Series victory of the season. Kay, who earned $5,000 in a non-touring victory the previous night in Davenport, Iowa, started 10th at West Liberty in a 40-lapper with fewer than a dozen drivers running at the finish.
Key notes: Kay's 10th career series victory is his third straight on the series at West Liberty and fourth in the last five. ... After Ron Boyse led a lap, polesitter Andy Nezworski led laps 2-15, before Kay blew past Scott Fitzpatrick and Nezworski on a restart. ... Nate Beuseling drew the lap-15 yellow. ... Jeff Aikey was running third when he retired on the 19th lap. ... ... A hole that developed in turn one was tricky. ... Series ironman Darrel DeFrance scratched from his heat race. ... The series made the first of three 2015 stops at West Liberty.
On the move: Kay started 10th in racing to victory; Brian Harris of Davenport, Iowa, rallied from 21st to third.
Winner's sponsors: Kay's Gheer'd Up Race Car is sponsored by Hoker Trucking, Kay & Sons Trucking, Peterson Insurance and Wehrs Machining.
Points chase: Nezworski is the points leader through two events.
