CLEVELAND, Tenn. (Oct. 18) — Taking the lead when Anthony White crashed in turn four just before the halfway point, Dale McDowell of Rossville, Ga., led the rest of the 40-lap Grant Adcox Memorial at Cleveland Speedway. The fourth-starting McDowell earned $4,000 in the unsanctioned event as the season winds down at the third-mile oval.

Jamie Perry of Ringgold, Ga., finished second followed by Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, Tenn., who started on the front row but fell back as far as fifth. Tommy Bailey of Corbin, Ky., and Gabe Wilson of Waynesville, N.C. White, who inherited a front-row starting spot when Kayne Hickman broke a water pump on the initial start, led the first 19 laps. McDowell actually overtook White on the ninth lap but a caution nullified the move.
