From series reports

CLEWISTON, Fla. (Sept. 26) — Outside front-row starter Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, Fla., captured his second straight special event by leading all 50 laps of the Ponce de Leon Classic at Hendry County Motorsports Park, a $3,000 victory on the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series.

Nosbisch, who earned $3,800 a week early with a victory in the unsanctioned Scott Thompson Memorial at East Bay Raceway Park, fought off challenges from fast qualifier Jason Fitzgerald of Jacksonville, Fla., at the track that reopened midway through the 2009 season.

Fitzgerald worked on Nosbisch most of the race, pulling alongside the leader down the backstretch with two laps remaining. But Fitzgerald hit the inside berm and spun out of contention, and he ended up sixth.

Dillon Wood of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., advanced six positions to finish second with Russell Brown Jr. of Valdosta, Ga., in third. Mark Whitener of Middleburg, Fla., and Johnny Collins of Jacksonville rounded out the top five. Polesitter Dennis Williams ended up ninth.

Ponce De Leon Classic: (1) Keith Nosbisch, (2) Dillon Wood, (3) Russell Brown Jr., (4) Mark Whitener, (5) Johnny Collins, (6) Jason Fitzgerald, (7) Jack Nosbisch Jr., (8) Shan Smith, (9) Dennis Williams, (10) Christian Augspurger, (11) Shane Williams. Fast qualifier: Fitzgerald.
