SALINA, Okla. (Sept. 20) — Proving he’s completely shaken off a dismal first half of the season, Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., grabbed his third victory in four starts Friday at Salina Highbanks Speedway for a $2,500 victory co-sanctioned by the MARS DIRTcar Series and National Championship Racing Association. | Slideshow

Stovall took the checkers ahead of MARS points leader Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., in the first of two weekend races to wrap up the season on both tours. Drivers battle for $3,000-to-win on Saturday night at the high-speed oval.

Home-state driver Gary Christian of Broken Bow was third in the 22-car field with Brandon McCormick of Lebanon, Mo., and Justin Asplin of Birch Tree, Mo., rounding out the top five finishers.

Stovall, whose first victory of the season came in late June, has been on a September hot streak with victories at Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan., Outlaw Motorsports Park near Muskogee, Okla., and now Salina, Okla.

Notes: Stovall's No. 00 is sponsored by Rushin Towling, Swafford's Service, Hendrick Buick-GMC-Cadillac. ... Dustin Walker drove Justin Asplin's backup car. ... Stovall notched his fourth MARS victory of the season and 16th of his career. ... He moved into a tie for fourth on the all-time list with Billy Moyer.
