Golden Isles Speedway

Event: Georgia Boot Super Bowl of Racing
Location: Waynesville, Ga. (13 miles west of I-95 on U.S. 82)
Dates: Feb. 5-7 (Thursday-Saturday)
Configuration: 4/10-mile clay oval
Super Late Model sanction: Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
Other divisions: Southern Thunder Late Model Series (Feb. 6-7), unsanctioned Limited Late Models (Feb. 5)
Schedule: Complete Lucas Oil programs with time trials, heats, consolations and features each night, and complete program for Limited Late Models. Pit gates open at noon, grandstands at 3 p.m., drivers’ meeting at 4:30 p.m. and hot laps at 5 p.m. each day.

Notes: The season-opening weekend for the Lucas Oil Series (although the opening race isn’t for points). … The track is now under the ownership of Johnny Langdale after it was sold by Frankie Lloyd last season; Darryl Courson promotes the track (as he did during last year’s Super Bowl). … Improvements for 2015 including new walls that created a turn-two track entrance-exit and moving the light standards outside the track. … Fans can visit the Georgia Boot display booth to win prizes during the weekend. For Saturday’s finale, registered fans will be matched with the 24 starters with the fan linked to the race winner picking up $515 in cash and a pair of boots. … The opener is the Edwin Coggins Memorial, honoring a long-time racing supporter who died at last year’s event. … Jonathan Davenport, Chris Madden and Steve Francis won last year’s Super Bowl events. … Among drivers considering rookie runs on the series are Brandon Sheppard of New Berlin, Ill., and Austin Rettig of Sikeston, Mo. … Other non-series regulars expected: Gregg Satterlee, Dennis Franklin, Ross Bailes and Chris Ferguson. … Lucas Oil Production Studios plan MavTV telecasts of the event later in the season. … Golden Isles continues racing the following weekend, hosting big-block modifieds for the first time.

Notes: A disagreement over tire rules caused a rift between Screven and the World of Outlaws last season (the event ended up being cancelled because of wet grounds), but this year’s event is WoO-sanctioned again with its limited UMP DIRTcar-style tire rule. … Come to the track hungry. Promoter Redd Griffin’s concession stand is more of a banquet hall with a wide variety of country cooking plates for sale. … A free barbecue and low country boil is scheduled for Feb. 3-4. … The track is offering a nightly pay-per-view of events on the track website. … Limited Late Models run for $1,500- and $2,000-to-win purses on Friday and Saturday. … Besides series regulars like Darrell Lanigan, Josh Richards and Tim McCreadie, among drivers expected are Billy Moyer, Ray Cook, Jason Covert, Casey Roberts, Riley Hickman and more.

Schedule: After Saturday’s lower-division action, Super Late Models run a complete program with pits opening at noon, grandstands at 3. Hot laps are scheduled for 3 p.m. with racing at 4.
Tickets: Sunday tickets are $30 adult general admission, $15 for children; pit passes are $40 for adults, $20 for children (two-day discount tickets are also available).

Schedule: Complete programs for all divisions each night. UMP programs include group time trials, six heats (three transfer), three consolation races (two transfer) and main event (heat winners redraw for starting spot). WoO programs include time trials, six staggered heats (three transfer), three consolations (two transfer) and main event (redraw for starting spots). Grandstands open at 5 p.m. daily with hot laps at 6 and racing at 7:30.
