A euphoric Tyler Millwood celebrates Saturday's $5,000 victory.
What won the race: Pole-starting Tyler Millwood of Kingston, Ga., mastered Saturday's Ultimate Southeast Series field to collect a commanding $5,000 flag-to-flag victory at Rome Speedway. Millwood notched his second career series victory and his first since earning $5,022 on April 28, 2018, at Modoc (S.C.) Raceway.
Key notes: Third-starting Michael Page moved into the runner-up position on a lap-14 restart and trailed Millwood the rest of the way, finishing 0.683 of a second back. ... Fifth-starting Dennis Franklin took third on the same lap-14 restart and completed the podium. ... Series points leader Anthony Sanders started sixth and finished fourth after taking the spot on a lap-30 restart. ... Second-starting Austin Smith of Cedartown, Ga., ended up fifth. He made his first start in several seasons in a new Clements-powered Capital Race Car. ... Ninth-finishing Will Roland drove Ronnie Johnson's Limited Late Model because he had engine problems in his primary car. ... Originally scheduled for April 15, Saturday's 40-lap feature was slowed by three cautions and lasted 26 minutes, with seven competitors completing the entire distance and nine running at the finish.
