ROSSBURG, Ohio (Aug. 31) — Staying red-hot on Labor Day weekend, polesitter Billy Moyer of Batesville., Ark., dominated a 25-lap Sunoco American Late Model Series event at Eldora Speedway to capture the inaugural Baltes Classic and earn $3,000 for his third career series victory. The race honored track founders Earl and Berneice Baltes, who sold the track to NASCAR champion Tony Stewart in 2004. | Slideshow

"The track was multiple-lane tonight and that’s a good thing,” said Moyer, who will return to Eldora for the Sept. 5-6 World 100, a race he's won an unprecedented five times. "Because once I got into the lapped traffic and could move around, although there was a bunch of them and I had to be cautious to save the car for next week and not mess up.”

Fast qualifier Matt Miller of Waterville, Ohio, was second in a race slowed by a single caution. Aaron Scott of Newark, Ohio, was third ahead of Greg Johnson of Bedford, Ind., and Chad Ruhlman of Bemus Point, N.Y.

Notes: Moyer's Victory Circle Chassis is sponsored by Banner Valley Hauling, J&J Steel, Karl Chevrolet, Minx Show Palace and Universal Concrete. ... Moyer picked up his third victory of the weekend, totaling $18,000 in winnings overall ($5,000 at Farmer City, Ill., and $10,000 at Fairbury, Ill., the previous two nights). ... The event was presented by Aesthetic Finishers. ... ALMS points leader Brian Ruhlman finished 16th, allowing eighth-finishing Rusty Schlenk to make up significant ground in the series title chase.
