Lucas earns $4,400 in Henley Memorial at Southern

MILTON, Fla. (July 19) — Former track champion Shep Lucas of McKenzie, Ala., collected $4,400 at Southern Raceway by capturing the Derek Henley Memorial at Southern Raceway. Lucas started on the pole of the unsanctioned 44-lap main event.
Chris O'Conner of Cantonment, Fla., finished second followed by Craig Turner of Flomaton, Ala. Hometown drivers Bo Slay and Jonathan Joiner, the track's points leaders in the Crate Late Model division, rounded out the top five in a race rained out a week earlier.
