Pegher holds off Barton for Raceway 7 victory
From series and track reports
CONNEAUT, Ohio (July 25) — Mike Pegher Jr. of Wexford, Pa., fought off a challenge from seventh-starting Dick Barton of Ashville, N.Y., on a lap-20 restart and held on for a 25-lap Fastrak Northeast victory at Raceway 7. Pegher, who started outside the front row, earned $1,200. Barton was second followed by overall Fastrak points leader Bobby Powell of Titusville, Pa. Dennis Lunger and Jay Watson rounded out the top five.
Entering turn one on the race's final restart, Barton had the advantage on the bottom and maintained it entering turn two, but Pegher got a great run in the high groove and blasted by Barton to hold his lead. "Dick intimidated me a little bit and I wasn't sure how far I was ahead of him," said Pegher, who drove a Lynn Geisler-owned car to victory.
