McKinney outruns Blair for Tri-City victory
From track reports
FRANKLIN, Pa. (Aug. 31) — Carl McKinney of Cranberry Township, Pa., was virtually unchallenged in leading all 30 laps of the Fastrak Northeast touring victory at Tri-City Speedway. McKinney, Tri-City's two-time E-mod champion, earned $2,000 for the 30-lap victory in his Rocket Chassis sponsored by Ehrhart Cabinets and Hufnagel Majors Trailer Sales.
"I have to thank Lynn Geisler for coming over to our shop on Wednesday to help us with setup advice," McKinney said of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer. "He still knows his stuff. This car was on a rail all night long."
Track champion and regional series point leader Max Blair came close to McKinney's back bumper a few times, but lapped traffic allowed McKinney to keep Blair at bay. Veteran Dick Barton finished third followed by Georgian Aaron Ridley, a crew member for World of Outlaws racer Clint Smith who made a guest appearance in the car normally driven by Bob Williams.
