Davenport tops Modoc 100, picks up $10,000
MODOC, S.C. (March 6-7) — Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Ga., earned $10,000 at Modoc Speedway with a victory in the Fastrak Racing Series-sanctioned Modoc 100 for Crate Late Models. Davenport, who started sixth in the 26-car field, used the high groove to head to the front, then ducked under polesitter Shanon Buckingham of Morristown, Tenn., to grab a lead he'd never give up. | Slideshow
Buckingham, the fastest qualifier among 64 entrants, settled for second and a $5,000 payday while Ross Bailes of Blacksburg, S.C., started and finished third. John Henderson and Jeremy Faircloth rounded out the top five in the first major Fastrak event of the season. Royce Bray of Hull, Ga., last year's Fastrak Grand Nationals champion, started ninth and ended up 17th at the 4/10-mile oval near the Georgia state line.
