Snyder dominates Dog Hollow for first tour victory

Fastrak Northeast SeriesSTRONGSTOWN, Pa. (July 24) — Track regular Tom Snyder Jr. of Mayport, Pa., led all 25 laps at Dog Hollow Speedway for his first career victory on the Fastrak Northeast tour. Snyder, who ran regularly with the series before running closer to home in 2009, earned $1,200.
"I knew there were a lot of good cars behind me," the polesitting Snyder said. "I've been trying to win one of these races for two and half years now and couldn't think of a better place to do it. We had a week off and went over our notes and hit it right on the money. I have to thank all the guys that help me."
Mike Blose of Dayton, Pa., a Super Late Model regular making his series debut, took second early, slipped back to fourth in a mid-race battle, then fought back to a runner-up finish ahead of 10th-starting David Scott of Garland, Pa. Bobby Powell of Waterford, Pa., gunning for his second straight series victory, was fourth while Bud Watson of Conneaut, Ohio, rounded out the top five. Mike Pegher Jr. of Waterford ran near the front early but fell from contention in bringing out an early caution.
Series points leader Max Blair of Centerville, Pa., salvaged a seventh-place finish on a tough night. In his heat race, Blair's No. 111 got upside down. Uninjured, he patched the car together for the consolation race and started 24th in the main event, maintaining his series lead by a mere two points over Scott.
Notes: Snyder drives a Faster Chassis. ... Snyder has three victories in 2009 at Dog Hollow and became the fifth touring winner in eight series events. ... Snyder has nine career Fastrak-sanctioned victories. ... The 33 cars was a Dog Hollow record for the division. ...
