Winebarger grabs victory at Cottage Grove
COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (May 11) — Collen Winebarger of Corbett, Ore., won Saturday’s Northwest Extreme Crate Late Model feature at Cottage Grove Speedway, winning his first series feature and ending the two-race win streak of Greg Walters.
Former track champ Mark Carrell of Redmond, Ore., was second followed by Kevin Ropchan of Veneta, Ore., Jerry Schram of Vancouver, Wash., and Jason Johnson of Gresham, Ore. Walters, who won the previous two series events at his Sunset Speedway Park in Banks, Ore., retired with an 18th-place finish.
Scott Winebarger, the winner’s father, led early in the feature, but Collen took control after a lap-four restart.
