Blair wins caution-plagued event at A-1

NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model SeriesSLIDELL, La. (May 10) — Eighth-starting Jay Blair of Angie, La., took the lead from Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, Ga., on the 18th lap at A-1 Raceway and led the rest of the 50-lapper for his first NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series victory of the season. Brindle, who dropped back to fourth by the 20th lap, rallied to finish second and take over the series points lead in a race marred by 18 caution flags that too nearly 90 minutes to complete. | Slideshow
Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, Miss., was third following his victory the previous night in Hattiesburg, Miss., while series rookie Scott Knowles of Lanett, Ala., and Derrick Rainey of Powder Springs, Ga., rounded out the top five. Rookie Hunter Peacock of Macon, Ga., led the first six laps but spun on the 15th lap after falling back to fourth. He came back to finish sixth.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, the series heads to Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway on May 23 and Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga., on May 24.
