Heck grabs PCRA victory at Haubstadt
HAUBSTADT, Ind. (June 8) — Aaron Heck of Mount Vernon, Ill., led all 25 laps Saturday at Tri-State Speedway for a Pro Crate Racers of America touring victory, his first victory at familar track for the youngster.
“I've been coming here since I was 8 years old,” said Heck, who has 10 Crate Late Model victories overall in 2013. “I watched a lot of laps here.”
Troy English of Calvert City, Ky., was second with reigning series champion Bobby Dauderman of Alhambra, Ill., in third. Chad Zobrist of Highland, Ill., and Kevin Cole of Christopher, Ill., rounded out the top five.
A spin back in the pack forced a second restart in the feature, but the race went green the rest of the way. Heck built a straightaway lead on English by the 15th lap and wasn’t challenged in grabbing the checkers at the high-banked quarter-mile oval.
