Frank scores Go Nuclear victory at Mohawk
HOGANSBURG, N.Y. (June 21) — Making the most of a break from the World of Outlaws Late Model Series, Chub Frank of Bear Lake, Pa., raced to victory Friday at Mohawk International Speedway on the Go Nuclear Crate Late Model Series.
Frank led all the way in a Greg Belyea-owned car, keeping fellow WoO moonlighter Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., at bay for a $1,000 victory. Smith, driving series founder Shayne Tenace's machine, settled for second with A.J. Kingsley, reigning champ Dale Caswell and Billy Eisele rounding out the top five.
The only caution appeared early for Alan Chapman’s turn-four spin. Two-time WoO champion Darrell Lanigan's chief mechanic Jason Jameson also competed, but he dropped out of the top five with an overheating car and finished 18th.
Frank and Smith had competed Thursday at Brighton (Ontario) Speedway with a Sunday WoO race coming up at Cornwall (Ontario) Motor Speedway.
