Two in a row for Phillips with Topeka victory

O'Reilly NCRATOPEKA, Kan. (Aug. 3) — Sweeping into the lead with a high-side move in turns one and two, Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., overtook polesitter Jason Bodenhamer of Centerview, Mo., on the eighth lap at Heartland Park and raced to victory. The event was co-sanctioned by the O'Reilly National Championship Racing Association and O'Reilly Topless Outlaw Racing Association.
Phillips started outside the front row, briefly slipped to third behind Bodenhamer and Kyle Berck of Marquette, Neb., then raced to the front in winning for the second straight night. His previous victory came at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb.
Seventh-starting John Anderson of Omaha, Neb., was 10th lengths behind Phillips in second while Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colo., Berck and Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kan., rounded out the top five. Bodenhamer ended up ninth.
Notes: Phillips drives a GRT Race Car with a Hatfield Racing Engine and sponsorship from Andy's Frozen Custard. ... An early red flag appeared when Tyler Gottschalk and Delbert Smith got together entering turn three. Gottschalk hit the wall but was uninjured. ... The next NCRA-TORA event is scheduled for Aug. 29 at Hutchinson (Kan.) Raceway Park.
