WHEATLAND, Mo. (Aug. 23) — Fourth-starting Mark Burgtorf of Quincy, Ill., broke through with his first career victory on the O'Reilly Midwest LateModel Racing Association at Lucas Oil Speedway. The 42-year-old Burgtorf overtook polesitter Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kan., on a lap-12 restart and held off John Anderson of Omaha, Neb., the rest of the way at the picturesque 3/8-mile oval. Front-row starter David Turner of Creighton, Mo., was third in the 35-lapper followed by 19th-starting Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., and Denny Woodworth of Mendon, Ill. | Slideshow

Notes: Burgtorf's Kuntz-powered Rayburn Race Car is sponsored by Rick's Transit Repair, Summy Tire and Gem City Ford. ... John Anderson, who rallied from the fourth row, edged ahead in the MLRA points chase with 984 points. He's 12 points ahead of David Turner while former points leader Terry Phillips (946), a no-show at Wheatland, fell to third. ... Polesitter Al Purkey, driving a Bill Koons-owned car, faded to finish eighth. ... Eric Turner, who drove Denny Woodworth's backup car in the MLRA event, won the night's modified feature. ...
