Drake earns $6,000 for 100-lap win at Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. (Sept. 27) — Billy Drake of Bloomington, Ill., took the lead when Tim Lance tangled with a lapped car halfway through the Jon Hamilton Memorial 100 at Peoria Speedway and went on to win the 55th annual Illinois State Championship. Drake earned $6,000 for the victory over fellow Illinois drivers Wes Steidinger of Fairbury and Eric Smith of Bloomington.
