DirtonDirt.com correspondentPROCTOR, Minn. (Oct. 4) — If you're looking for Harry Hanson during WISSOTA's late-season stretch of special events, it's easy. The 36-year veteran will be somewhere up front.
The Eveleth, Minn., driver continued his late-season hot streak at Proctor Speedway by capturing the Late Model portion of Proctoberfest, which also served as a makeup feature for August's rained out Silver 1000. Overcoming a penalty for jumping a lap-seven restart that cost him the lead, Hanson outdueled Darrell Nelson of Hermantown, Minn., in the second half of the 40-lapper to grab a $2,500 victory at the 3/8-mile oval. Nelson settled for second behind Proctor's 2008 champion with Jeff Provinzino of Hibbing, Minn., Danny Young of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and Mike Waseleski of Pengilly, Minn.
Hanson, the champion of the 2008 AMSOIL Series, started his late-season streak with a runner-up finish in the Punky Manor Challenge of Champions at Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, Wis., and followed that with a victory in the 33rd annual Red Clay Classic at ABC Raceway in Ashland, Wis.
Notes: Hanson's No. 7 is sponsored by B.G.'s Bar and Grill, Amy's Bar, Snickers Pizza and Barber Graphics. ... John Carpenter slipped over turn four to bring out the race's only caution on the seventh lap.
