Boen fights off Eckrich for I-80 victory
GREENWOOD, Neb. (July 26) — Kelly Boen of Henderson, Colo., denied Denny Eckrich's attempt for a repeat of his July 2 co-sanctioned victory at I-80 Speedway with a $3,000 victory. Eckrich, of Tiffin, Iowa, settled for second in a race sanctioned by two O'Reilly Auto Parts-sponsored tours, the Midwest LateModel Racing Association and National Championship Racing Association.
Al Purkey of Coffeyville, Kan., rallied from 19th to finish third while home-state drivers John Anderson of Omaha and Kyle Berck of Marquette rounded out the top five.
The event was the last of a three-race weekend for MLRA and NCRA. Boen won Friday's opener at Park Jefferson (S.D.) Speedway and Joe Kosiski of Omaha, Neb., won Saturday at Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa.
