Chad Simpson still perfect after 5th Corn Belt win
FARLEY, Iowa (June 4) — Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa, continued his utter domination on the Dart Corn Belt Clash series Friday at Farley Speedway by cruising to a $2,000 victory in the 40-lap feature. Simpson overtook polesitter and hometown driver Jason Rauen on the 12th lap and built huge leads the rest of the way, threatening to lap into the top five at the half-mile oval.
Simpson, who started eighth, has won all five Dart Corn Belt Clash events this season, including the previous night at Cresco (Iowa) Speedway.
The winner’s younger brother, Chris Simpson of Oxford, Iowa, finished a straightaway behind in second after starting fourth and 11th-starting Joel Callhan of Dubuque, Iowa, rallied to finish third. Andy Eckrich of Iowa City, Iowa, was fourth and 14th-starting Denny Eckrich rounded out the top five. Rauen ended up sixth.
