DirtonDirt.com correspondentESTEVAN, Saskatchewan (Aug. 16) — Outside front-row starter Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wis., led all the way Monday at Estevan Motor Speedway for his second straight victory on the WISSOTA-sanctioned Northern LateModel Racing Association.
Doar's victory — his first off U.S. soil — came on the third of six straight nights of NLRA action in the only race outside North Dakota during the stretch.
Polesitter Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Manitoba, finished second with Zach Johnson of Kensington, Minn., edging Jeremy Keller of Bismarck, N.D., for third. Overall WISSOTA points leader Ricky Weiss of St. Francois Xavier, Manitoba, rounded out the top five.
Doar got the jump on Balcaen at the outset and built nearly a five-second lead as the first 25 laps went non-stop. After a pair of solo spins halted the race twice on lap 25, Doar pulled away over the final five laps for the victory.
