Seng outuels Balcaen at Williston Basin

DirtonDirt.com correspondentWILLISTON, N.D. (Aug. 17) — Brad of Grand Forks, N.D., won a late-race duel with long-time series competitor Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Tuesday at Williston Basin Speedway for his first Northern LateModel Racing Association victory in more than a year.
Balcaen led from the outset of the caution-free, 30-lap feature with Seng giving chase and eventually pulling alongside on lap 22. The frontrunners battled side by side for five laps until Balcaen briefly slipped over the banking, dropping him back to third behind Seng and Joel Cryderman of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Seng took the checkers for the first time on the series since Aug. 2, 2009, at Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, N.D. Cryderman, Balcaen, Ricky Weiss and home-state driver Jeremy Keller rounded out the top five in the fourth of six consecutive nights of NLRA action through North Dakota and Canada.
