Aikey dominates for Clash victory at Cedar County
TIPTON, Iowa (Aug. 25) — Dominating at Cedar County Raceway, Jeff Aikey of Waterloo, Iowa, cruised to his second Dart Corn Belt Clash victory in three starts on Wednesday to earn $2,000. Aikey jumped into the lead over polesitter Denny Eckrich of Tiffin, Iowa, on the third lap and led the rest of the way.
Fourth-row starter Justin Kay of Wheatland, Iowa, took second from Eckrich with 10 laps remaining, but he finished far behind Aikey's No. 77 in the 35-lap main event.
Eckrich was third followed by Jason Rauen of Farley, Iowa, and series points leader Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa, who won the May 25 series event at Tipton's quarter-mile oval. Simpson started last in the 24-car field after he was unable to start his heat race.
Kurt Kile of Nichols, Iowa, ran in the top five most of the way but settled for sixth.
