Wildung completes NLRA Viking sweep
ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (Sept. 4) — Jeff Wildung of Nassua, Minn., maintained his stranglehold on NLRA visits to Viking Speedway by sweeping Northern LateModel Racing Association's Labor Day weekend. Wildung's Sunday victory coupled with Saturday's victory gave him his fifth victory in the last eight series event at the half-mile oval.
Wildung won from outside the front row while ninth-starting Zach Johnson of Kensington, Minn., rallied to finish second. Brad Seng of Grand Forks, N.D., improved 18 positions to finish third while series points leader Ricky Weiss of Winnipeg, Manitoba, was fourth. Shawn Kirwin of Morris, Minn., started outside the sixth row and rounded out the top five.
Polesitter Mitch Johnson of Hickson, N.D., ended up 10th. Twenty-three of 26 starters were running at the finish.
NLRA competitors wrap up the season Sept. 8 at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D.
