Red-hot Smith grabs $5,000 at Cedar Lake
NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (Sept. 15-17) — Continuing a recent hot streak, Brady Smith of Solon Springs, Wis., earned $5,000 Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway for capturing the Late Model portion of the track's Legendary 100.
Smith, who has four victories in his last six starts, led all 40 laps in beating Steve Laursen of Cumberland, Wis., to the checkers as the winners of Thursday's and Friday's semifeatures finished 1-2 in the weekend finale. | Slideshow
Darrell Nelson of Hermantown, Minn., was third (along with winning the modified feature) while Joel Cryderman of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and A.J. Diemel of Bonduel, Wis., rounded out the top five finishers.
Smith's victory follows an Aug. 20 World of Outlaws Late Model Series victory at Merritt (Mich.) Raceway, the Silver 1000 triumph Sept. 1 at Proctor (Minn.) Speedway and the Sept. 4 Labor Day Shootout victory at Hibbing (Minn.) Raceway.
