Mars picks up $5,000 at Punky Manor Challenge
MENOMONIE, Wis. (Sept. 24) — Hometown driver Jimmy Mars earned $5,000 Saturday at Red Cedar Speedway for his victory in the 32nd annual Punky Manor Challenge of Champions. | Slideshow
Lance Matthees of Winona, Minn., going for his second straight victory in a WISSOTA-sanctioned special, finished second while Jake Redetzke of Eau Claire, Wis., was third. Last year's winner A.J. Diemel of Navarino, Wis., and Mike Prochnow of Menomonie rounded out the top five. Seventeen of 25 starters were running at the finish.
The event honors Neil “Punky” Manor Jr., a Late Model champion at area tracks who was killed in a highway accident.
