Moyer's flat lifts English to Paducah MARS victory
PADUCAH, Ky. (June 1) — Terry English of Benton, Ky., inherited the lead when Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., suffered a flat tire with five laps remaining in Friday night’s MARS DIRTcar Series event at Paducah International Raceway and led the remaining distance for his first series victory. | Slideshow
English earned $5,000 in topping Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., at the finish. Ryan Unzicker of El Paso, Ill., was third with Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., fourth and series points leader Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., fifth.
English and Moyer shared the front row for the start of the 30-lap feature with the high-running Moyer pulling out front to establish command early in the race. Moyer built more than a straightaway advantage at times, but saw the victory slip away when he had to head to the pit area under a lap-25 caution with a deflating left-rear tire.
English took over the lead upon Moyer’s exit and held on for the victory while Moyer ended up 16th in the final rundown.
