Miller snaps Marcoullier's streak at Oakshade
WAUSEON, Ohio (May 25) — Starting outside the front row, Matt Miller of Waterville, Ohio, dominated Saturday at Oakshade Raceway for his first Sunoco American Late Model Series of the season and 23rd of his career.
Miller, driving Rick DeLong’s No. 3, pocketed $2,000 and snapped Dona Marcoullier’s two-race win streak at the 3/8-mile oval. The fourth-starting Marcoullier was second in the caution-free 30-lapper. | Slideshow
Jeep Van Wormer of Pinconning, Mich., was third while pole-starting Rusty Schlenk of Weston, Ohio, and Chris Keller of Adrian, Mich., rounded out the top five finishers in the two of four holiday weekend ALMS races.
Miller darted out the lead at the drop of the green flag with Marcoullier giving chase in a two-car breakaway. Miller stretched his lead unti late the race when Marcoullier started to tighten up amid traffic.
With Miller struggling to put a lap on Frank Heckenast Jr., Marcoullier closed within one length. But Miller kept Marcoullier at bay in taking the checkered flag.
