Massingill grabs first career NLRA victory
HIBBING, Minn. (June 29) — Outside front-row starter Jeff Massingill of Keewatin, Minn., raced to his first Northern LateModel Racing Association victory Saturday at Hibbing Raceway, pocketing a career-high $3,500.
Massingill took the checkers ahead of pole-starting Dustin Strand of Grand Forks, N.D., while Pat Doar of New Richmond, Wis., was third. Tom Waseleski Jr. of Pengilly, Minn., and hometown driver Kyle Peterlin rounded out the top five finishers in the second of three weekend NLRA events.
Joey Pederson of East Grand Forks, N.D., winner of the previous two NLRA races, finished 10th after starting outside the 12th row in the Mike Baumgardner Memorial, a race honoring a long-time Hibbing fan who died last year.
