Feger grabs $5,000 Luxemburg victory
LUXEMBURG, Wis. (July 5) — Pole-starting Jason Feger of Bloomington, Ill., overtook fellow front-row starter Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa, amid traffic Friday at Luxemburg Speedway to score his second Corn Belt Clash victory of the season. Feger, who took the lead past the halfway point after slipping back to third early, earned $5,000 in the second race at the tour’s first-ever visit to the Wisconsin oval.
Simpson held on for second at the finish, while A.J. Diemel of Navarino, Wis., who won Thursday’s opening event, was third. A pair of Iowa natives —Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., fourth in his second career start on the Iowa-based circuit, and Matt Furman of Columbus, Ohio — rounded out the top five.
A single caution, for debris, slowed the feature on the 15th lap.
