Stovall wins return of MARS to Outlaw oval
MUSKOGEE, Okla. (Sept. 13) — Winless through the first half of the season, reigning series champion Jesse Stovall of Galena, Mo., clicked off his third victory in his last nine MARS DIRTcar Series starts Friday in the tour’s return to Outlaw Motorsports Park.
Stovall earned $3,000 for the victory as the Missouri-based tour returned to the oval near Muskogee for the first time since 2010. He took the checkered flag ahead of six-time series champion Terry Phillips of Springfield, Mo., who debuted a Rocket Chassis.
Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, Iowa, was third at the 3/8-mile oval while series points leader Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, Mo., and Tommy Weder Jr. of Woodward, Okla., rounded out the top five.
