Casey invades Georgia, wins second straight
From series reports
SWAINSBORO, Ga. (April 3) — Make it two in a row for Terry Casey of New London, Wis. The third-starting Casey overtook early leader Dan Schlieper on the seventh lap and led the rest of the 30-lapper at Swainsboro Raceway for his second consecutive victory on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Casey, who weaved through traffic in the race's late stages, earned $7,000 for his third career series victory, all of them within the last five events.
Casey had a big night at the 3/10-mile oval, setting fast time and winning the first heat race before a feature victory that helped him increase his lead in the series points. Schlieper, of Sullivan, Wis., held on to finish second followed by 14th-starting Ivedent Lloyd Jr of Ocala, Fla., Dennis Franklin of Gaffney, S.C., and reigning series champion Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., who started 15th.
Notes: Casey's Arnie Ranta Motorsports Rayburn Race Car has a Pro Power engine and sponsorship from Brewer Concrete. ... The event was the first of three series races in Georgia. Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Ga., hosts Lucas Oil competitors on Friday night and Golden Isles Speedway near Brunswick, Ga., wraps up the weekend on Saturday night. Both races pay $10,000 to the winner. ... Among drivers failing to make the feature: Jimmy Owens, Chesley Dixon, Dion Deason, Michael England and Scott Bloomquist, who was among drivers scratching from a consolation race.
