JAMAICA, Va. (July 17) — Rookie Matt Marshall of Stuarts Draft, Va., led all 30 laps Saturday at Virginia Motor Speedway for a victory on the Cline Construction Steel Block Bandits tour. Marshall fought off challenges from Scott Adams the first half of the race, then from Andy Fries over the final five laps.

“This is absolutely amazing to get my first Late Model race in such a big event,” Marshall said. \"The car worked so well. I learned a lot tonight running up on the cushion.”

Rounding out the top five were Fries, Sommey Lacey, Kyle Merkel and Walker Arthur in a race slowed by four cautions, including a lap-29 yellow that gave Fries one final shot at Marshall.

The Steel Block Bandits returned to action July 31 at Grandview Speedway in Bechtellsville, Pa.
