Roberson wins Steel Block Bandits at Eastside
WAYNESBORO, Va. (May 31) — Hometown driver Greg Roberson raced to his fifth-career victory on the Steel Block Bandits tour Friday night at Eastside Speedway, earning a $1,500 victory at the 4/10-mile oval. | Slideshow
Roberson, who earned his first series victory since 2011, topped Andy Anderson of Martinsburg, W.Va., and defending series champion Andy Fries of Mercersburg, Pa., at the finish, while Bruce Kane of Glen Burnie, Md., and Rick Holson rounded out the race’s top five finishers. Joey Leavell was in control when a broken J-bar spun him out of the lead in turn three.
Roberson’s victory came on the first night of a weekend doubleheader for the Steel Block Bandits. The Limited Late Model tour moves to Natural Bridge (Va.) Speedway for another $1,500-to-win event on Saturday.
