Erwin earns $4,000 for first Bandits triumph
ELM CITY, N.C. (Aug. 31) — Russell Erwin of Beaverdam, Va., claimed Saturday’s Carolina Steel Block Nationals event at County Line Raceway, earing $4,000 for his first career victory on the Steel Block Bandits tour for Limited Late Models.
Erwin led Scott Adams of Chester, Va., to the finish with Gene Knaub of Dover, Pa., third. Cy Nelms Sr. of Nashville, N.C., and Christian Joyner of Castalia, N.C., rounded out the top five as the series wrapped up its North Carolina doubleheader weekend.
Erwin became the second first-time winner on the weekend after Robbie Emory of Georgetown, Del., also earned $4,000 for his first series victory in the weekend opener Friday night at Clary’s Speedway in Brinkleyville, N.C. Emory finished 10th in Saturday’s feature.
